We met Elly and Richard at a wedding fair last Spring at Hall Place and they loved our displays and enthusiasm for our work so we set out on their journey with them both and their families.
After our initial consultation and the theme of lilac being chosen due to the colour of their bridesmaids dresses we started to discuss flower choice for colour and scent.
Getting married in April means that there were lots of English spring flowers that were available to them and Elly specifically wanted a "just picked from the garden" look for hers and her bridesmaids bouquets. Karen and I advised her to go with beautiful lilac and white sweet peas, mixed with double lilac lisanthus, Vendella roses, white freesia and wonderful camomile. We also added small touches of Eucalyptus cineria as Richard was wearing a pewter coloured suit so it would pick up on this too!
During the consultation we also discussed their table decorations at The London Golf Club and they were yet to come up with names for the tables, Karen and I suggested that they could choose a specific flower for each table and then call the tables after the flowers. Again we advised which flowers to use within the theme of lilac and ivory and what was available at the time of year.
Elly and Richard were delighted with the idea, so once table numbers were finalised Elly and her mum came back to Gorgeous HQ and we chose the flowers and I then sent over individual pictures of each so they could use them in their table plan. We needed a good mixture of the lilacs and whites and we then mirrored this style on the top table with minature vases of the same flowers.
Along with the table decorations and bridal party flowers we also designed a wonderful large mantelpiece arrangement to frame the top table from behind.
We ordered all the flowers from our fantastic wholesaler Tom Brown and collected them fresh on Thursday morning, conditioned them all and started work on Friday evening and finished off by making the buttonholes and corsages on the Saturday morning. Deliveries to Elly at her mums and then Richards to the church and on to The Golf Club to set up.
Unknown to Elly at this time was a special gift made by her grandmother, delivered to us by her mum and we located it for them at the Golf Club.
Karen and I always love working very closely with the families of brides and grooms and feel privileged to be involved with them all on their big day.
We would like to say thank you to Mr and Mrs Milcoy for their wonderful thank you card and wish them all the best for their future lives together.
"...Thank you for the wonderful flowers you did for Ellys wedding. Everything was just as she wanted and the venue looked stunning. Her bouquet and the bridesmaids were beautiful - she couldn't have wished for better. ..I just wanted to say it has been a pleasure doing business with you both and I wish you all the bet for the future and we will definitely recommed you to anyonw who is looking for lovely flowers"
