We met Elly and Richard at a wedding fair last Spring at Hall Place and they loved our displays and enthusiasm for our work so we set out on their journey with them both and their families.
After our initial consultation and the theme of lilac being chosen due to the colour of their bridesmaids dresses we started to discuss flower choice for colour and scent.
Getting married in April means that there were lots of English spring flowers that were available to them and Elly specifically wanted a "just picked from the garden" look for hers and her bridesmaids bouquets. Karen and I advised her to go with beautiful lilac and white sweet peas, mixed with double lilac lisanthus, Vendella roses, white freesia and wonderful camomile. We also added small touches of Eucalyptus cineria as Richard was wearing a pewter coloured suit so it would pick up on this too!
During the consultation we also discussed their table decorations at The London Golf Club and they were yet to come up with names for the tables, Karen and I suggested that they could choose a specific flower for each table and then call the tables after the flowers. Again we advised which flowers to use within the theme of lilac and ivory and what was available at the time of year.
Elly and Richard were delighted with the idea, so once table numbers were finalised Elly and her mum came back to Gorgeous HQ and we chose the flowers and I then sent over individual pictures of each so they could use them in their table plan. We needed a good mixture of the lilacs and whites and we then mirrored this style on the top table with minature vases of the same flowers.
Along with the table decorations and bridal party flowers we also designed a wonderful large mantelpiece arrangement to frame the top table from behind.
We ordered all the flowers from our fantastic wholesaler Tom Brown and collected them fresh on Thursday morning, conditioned them all and started work on Friday evening and finished off by making the buttonholes and corsages on the Saturday morning. Deliveries to Elly at her mums and then Richards to the church and on to The Golf Club to set up.
Unknown to Elly at this time was a special gift made by her grandmother, delivered to us by her mum and we located it for them at the Golf Club.
Karen and I always love working very closely with the families of brides and grooms and feel privileged to be involved with them all on their big day.
We would like to say thank you to Mr and Mrs Milcoy for their wonderful thank you card and wish them all the best for their future lives together.
"...Thank you for the wonderful flowers you did for Ellys wedding. Everything was just as she wanted and the venue looked stunning. Her bouquet and the bridesmaids were beautiful - she couldn't have wished for better. ..I just wanted to say it has been a pleasure doing business with you both and I wish you all the bet for the future and we will definitely recommed you to anyonw who is looking for lovely flowers"
An informative and fun blog for brides planning their weddings that need an inside view of the florists head and ideas!

Creative juices flowing...
We have been so busy is week that the creative juices are flowing well. Lots of beautiful ideas for Danson House. Wonderful large arrangements on the entrance to welcome the guests into the lavish interiors. Then amazing pedestals in scented champagnes and lime greens using hydrangeas and cottage roses. We can't wait for the season to get under way.
The above wedding is for a larger budget, but we were having a great chat with another bride yesterday evening on a much smaller budget, but are creating just as beautiful arrangements with more economical flowers such as gerberas in shocking pinks with navy blue ribbon twirls. Both will create just as much of a wow factor but with very differnent styles.

The shocking pink bride also really wanted peonies but with a wedding in March she new it was unlikely, so we have guided her to choose Sweet Avalanche roses with the hope that peonies may turn up! There were some in the flower wholesalers in October lat year! So anything is possible - but no promises!

Hall Place wedding Fair 11th March
Time to start thinking about the wedding fairs that are coming up. Et me know if there is something you would like to see. A particular colour or flower? A specific vase for instance. The lovely ladies at www.vinatge-flair.co.uk are great at lending me some of their fantastic and extensive range of vintage crockery and candelabras. We are designing a different goldfish bowl arrangement that we hope will prove interesting to all.
I am also hoping to create a beautiful heart to hang from various locations within Hall Place.
I will post any pictures onto Facebook too.

Spring is in the air
Now at those first few Daffodils are starting to show their sunny faces, think abo using truly seasonal and British flowers for your wedding. We know that the world is a mich smaller place, but when we have such magnificent blooms that give such a gorgeous feel to any wedding it would be daft not to take advantage.
British spring flowers are one of the only seasonal blooms left, now that everything can be forced to grow, so use them while you can.

Gorgeousfloraldesign
Hi Lisa here one of the partners at Gorgeous Floral Design. We are a wedding specialist company in Bexley and I have I idea how to set up my blog page so bear with me. We had a great success with Jennifer and Marc's wedding a Hall Place yesterday. Beautiful choice of dark burgundy in shot silks, which was mirrored in the tale decorations of burgundy gerberas floating in goldfish bowls with submersible tea lights sparkling away. We decorated the windows with foliage and sparkling fairy lights and the minstrels gallery was litigate fairy lights and a flower and foliage garland. Her bouquet was a stylish teardrop shape featuring the burgundy gerberas again, mixed with white Akito roses, ivy simmia berries and diamonte sparkles throughout.
Hall Place are holding an open day this Sunday for all prospective brides so come between 11am and 3pm to take a look around the beautiful house and gardens and secure your amazing wedding day.
Lisa
